Super Bowl Sunday

Many people get emotionally hyped about the Super Bowl Game year after year after year. I used to get really hyped about it myself and if my team won I had bragging rights for a year. Unfortunately if my team would lose, it is hard to admit this, but I would get angry. I know, I know, “It is just a game!.” I can not explain why I would get angry. Maybe it had something to do with my hype being dashed and high amounts of energy being wasted on a loser. I don’t know why I had the anger but I have watched other people, men and women alike, and they get angry when their team loses too. What’s the big deal? Unless you are an owner, it really does  not matter.

Things are different today, I like to think that I have a more mature outlook and realize that it is just a game and it effects me very, very little. Shame on me for not realizing this as a young man. BUT I DIDN’T!!

I still get hyped. Every day is somewhat of a hype for me because I realize each day has value. I also have the awesome opportunity to enjoy my lovely wife and family and spend my day with people I love. Even when bad things happen my hype is not dashed because my hype is built not on emotion of a moment but on the Hope of eternity; The Hope I have in Jesus. He is with me in the good and bad times and I am hyped with the hope of that being for all eternity. May you too find a way to connect your hype to your hope. My friend it is only possible with the one that gives hope for every tomorrow, Jesus the Christ. Yes, I am hyped about the hope and am absolutely thrilled to be able to share this Good Good news with others.  Take a moment to examine your hype and see what it is connected to. If it is not connected to eternity my friend, it is not worth the hype. So cool your jets and rethink what you are pouring your energy in to.

As for the game, I do not really care who wins but Dottie is a staunch Pittsburgh fan and I always root for the other team just to make it interesting. She will tell you though, because she knows, I really do not care who wins or who loses in football. I do however want people to win in their life so that their eternity will be with the Lord and someday we will share a banquet in Heaven.
