When the Going Gets Tough

I have always told my two beautiful daughters that “when the going gets tough the tough get going.” I have had to heed my own advise several times in my life. Here is what I know:

1. Life is filled with going. Sometimes the going is easy other times tough. Going refers to journey; on this journey of life the road will be smooth at times but be aware because there are potholes of toughness on the road.

2. The going or journey gets tough, occasionally. This statement infers, that the going is not always tough but it gets tough. When things get tough, the question is, “who are you going to be?” Are you going to pretend things are not tough?  Are you going to become a beacon of doom and let everyone know how tough you think things are?  Are you going to run away seeking a autopilot without problems? Are you going to get angry and get an attitude? How are you going to react when things get tough?

3. Spirit filled people have tough days just like people of the world but they are much better equipped to be victorious when things get tough. They realize God is in control and they are not. They realize God is with them always, not just in the pleasant times.  They understand the importance of perseverance. They realize the power of prayer. The get going because they have not stopped. A better way of saying this is When the going gets tough the tough KEEP going.
