When the kids were in grade school they attended Mansfield Christian School in Mansfield Ohio. Oh my goodness is it ever cold during the winters in Mansfield. I remember one of my cars had a vent that did not close all the way and I literally froze as I drove that car. To compensate for the cold air, I turned the heater on full blast and it helped.
My Daughters rode in the backseat and they would complain because it really got hot back there after a few minutes of having the heater on full blast. They complained because they were hot. To complicate matters and to frustrate me they would roll their window down and let some cold air in. I would freeze even more when they did that and yelled at them for rolling down their windows. At that point they both became drama queens and whined and cried because it was so hot. The problem was, I was still freezing as I drove the car.

All of a sudden there was silence in the back seat. No more whining or complaining, just silence. That could be good news. Maybe they were asleep. After a lengthy time I turned around and those very smart kids had rolled up their windows on plastic straws. One end of the Straw was outside the window and the other end was inside the window. They were breathing in the cold air from outside through the straw. I have often thought about their ingenuity. Kids do the cutest things sometimes.
